Autumn Route
Dark World meets accordions in this major-minor structured theme.
Composer's Comment
What is it with me and nostalgic or melancholic themes? I really like mixing in some sadness to anything happy, it seems! Anyway, when I conceived the idea for this piece, I thought of it as two different themes which would play in contrasting levels of an imaginary platformer. As I adopted it for (the unofficial fangame) Pokémon Garnet, I came to realize I could have both in the same theme by transposing the minor part down so it fit naturally in the C major scale. That makes the piece quite lengthy, but hey, it sounded pretty cool. I also got to change the drumset and several instruments between the two parts.
My favourite part is the second bit of the minor version, where the strings take over from the piano in playing the accompaniment, but I also am fond of the intro, with the accordion just overflowing with happiness.
Released June 1, 2013
