Garnet
Soundtrack for a Fanmade Pokémon Game

A bunch of fans gathered around the idea of creating an unofficial Pokémon game. I was one of the composers.

Composer's Comment

By the looks of it, the project has died out as we all got older and busier. I was a composer together with Zachary, who did a phenomenal job. In the linked YouTube playlist, you find the themes made by both of us.

I was starting to lose inspiration when I was contacted by Garnet's project lead, who had discovered me through my fanmade Legendary battle theme. I joined the Pokémon Garnet project, and basically just picked what I wanted to make. Turns out having someone else depend on you or expect you to deliver something is a really good way to get motivation, no matter if it's a training buddy or a project lead. You could say Pokémon Garnet sparked my motivation and made me make more music, which I wouldn't necessarily do.

However, other aspects of my life came to dominate my time. School required more work and I got some IRL friends which I hang out with almost every weekend. I also saw that I was unable to have a high standard for my music with the equipment I had, namely lack of tools for mixing and mastering. All these factors led up to a hiatus lasting several years.

Despite not publishing anything, I still composed melodies. I just played them on my keyboard and didn't write them down or anything. I'm guessing I have at least 15 songs in my head, some of which I remember better than others. I have also explored the world of chiptune, through a program known as Famitracker. Stay tuned, I might just announce something new soon.
